One day at work I was wearing my E&J dress and a man came into my department to return a sweater that his girl friend got him.. I waited till he left and tried it on over my dress and BAM. Herpes. (Family Guy quote anyone?) No no.. that didn't happen.. but seriously. I fell in love it! So! I decided to dig that look out from my archive of memories from being in sales and here it is once again!

And don't you dare forget about my sock bracelet (as we like to call it around our shop).. It's actually a change purse necklace from Forever 21 that I made an anklet! I will be writing a post about this later.

Let's Hear It For What Started It All!

2 months and 67 posts later... I thank you Style Diaries

One day.. my Public Relations manager gave me a book to borrow called The Sartorialist (you may have heard of him, ha) and I was obsessed!  So I rushed right over to Barnes and Noble on my break to purchase the book, and to my dismay, they were sold out!  As I was scanning the book shelves over and over and over again (because of course I didn't believe the computer that said there weren't any) there was a book, the same size as The Sartorialist, that caught my eye.  Style Diaries. It had red binding and a girl dressed in a "walk of shame chic" outfit on its cover. And yes, I quickly fell in love with a book solely by its cover! Typical me move.  So I purchased my new found bed time story and off I went! 

I read this book cover to cover (first time I've accomplished that in years)... ya I get it... it's more pictures than words, but it was my perfect kind of book!  You learn so much about these interesting boys and girls and their blogs and their style and their personalities!   It really inspired me.  I knew that I had always wanted to start my own blog I was just too intimidated! This book, along with a friend of mine who was starting his own blog.. made me feel that I had a voice that people wanted to hear, and finally gave me the courage to start my very own!

So a big thanks to April, Style Diaries and AT for the inspiration.

I was having a crappy morning so I decided that I need a nice shade of "Whore" on my lips.   Then had a photo shoot with my co-worker/blog buddy.  I call this "Glamour Shots by Coleen".

What! That's what I do! If I don't pick out an outfit the night before I usually wake up and put on something that's either tight, short or just plain inappropriate... with a shade of lipstick not suitable for 8am.  If I don't I feel unattractive and frumpy... which in direct relation, makes me feel tired.  What.. it makes sense.

A Midsummer Night's Dream

Today, as an early Mother's Day gift, my mom and I attended The Boston Ballet's A Midsummer Night's Dream.  This is my aaaall time favorite story.  It has faeries, princesses and a jack ass!  But seriously.. the costumes were absolutely breath taking.  As soon as I heard the flutes and violins sound from the orchestra pit.. the pit of my stomach dropped and my heart started to pound.  The performance started........ and it was super magical.

Dressing for the ballet was super easy!  I had it all planned out in my head.  I decided to go with a whimsical color story that had a vintage look (since the story took place long ago, I felt it necessary).  I also had to include a floral pattern since most of the story takes place is a magical forest.. duh.  As you can see I enjoy dressing in theme/character.  Seriously.. there's nothing worse than going somewhere and feeling out of character.... ok there are a few things that could be worse.. but whatever.

I felt like I accomplished my "Ballerina Faerie Princess" look without looking like an overgrown 12 year old. 

 When I wear pearls I tend to mix old world with new world.  Here I have my multi-strand pear and chain neck from Stella & Dot, my daisy Chanel look-a-like pearls mixed with my authentic vintage pearl strand that my awesome boyfriend got me.  More fun.. less waspy.

Every time I go to the Ballet or see a show I need a little keepsake to remember it by... This performance in particular called for a serious piece.. and these stole my heart.

The Suspen(ders) Are Killing Me!

Suspenders... Menswear or a look for the ladies? The suspense is killing me! (teehehe)

A friend/big sister of mine has a friend that had a suspender question.. 

and I hope this answers her question:

Usually when you think of suspenders you think of a W.B. Mason look-a-like with a curled up mustache.... that, or a hipster.  But there are actually many different suspender looks that are femme friendly.. whether up on your shoulders or dropped down by your side with a blazer, suspenders are the unexpected accessory that, if worn correctly, look adorable!
