Leader of the Pack

My grandmother is so amazing to me.  

Some of you have had the privilege of meeting her and there is not a 

doubt in my mind that she sure as hell left an impression on you. 

She is hilarious to most, sharp tongued to some, but to my family she is our 

matriarch and our rock.  This woman is quite possibly the strongest and smartest

woman I have come in contact with and she has truly shaped the women

in my family to be the same.  Today I was lucky enough to be able

to knowingly say my good byes and mentally photograph her smiling face

as she yelled "avash!" from her hospital bed. 

Avash, avash! are her famous last words.. and for me that is quite literal.

Avash in Albanian means "take it easy" "go slow" which is what she 

would always yell when we would leave her house.. making sure we would

back out of the driveway slowly and get home safe.  

Today I got butterflies when she said it.

She is in high spirits and extremely content with the decision she made.

She is a lucky woman to have been able to make such a decision for herself..

but I am in no way surprised.  Always the strong decision maker.

There is no denying that Agnes Kosta loves the limelight.

Like.. she would totally be Regina George.. leader of the pack.

Gia would be Karen Smith... and Flo.. would be Gretchen Wieners.

 So with all of her visitors.. friends, family, techs, dialysis-mates..

that continue to grace her with their presence now and in the coming days..
