Another amazing day at the office!

One of many great looks of the night.

Where do I begin.  Well first off.. it feels like 11pm... and it's only 8:30.  Another long day, but I am not complaining.  Today..... was nothing short of amazing.  Everything went so smoothly and everyone in Boston was so great to work with.  Today also confirmed what makes me tick.  It's totally the feeling right after a successful fashion show.  I get it. I've only done small events, and today I wasn't even styling, but the feeling of accomplishment after the final look is sent out onto the floor is the greatest feeling.  Maybe it's just me.

The models tonight? Friggin hilarious!  Such a great group of guys.  I love working with men in general.  My personality just meshes well with them.  That is a huge reason why I love mens fashion so much.  Not only is being a mens stylist the sexiest job ever (there's really nothing sexier than making a man look great... the simplicity of the perfect menswear look... it's not fussy like women's fashion), but working with men is so easy.... when they're logical of course.  Women are too...... opinionated in a negative way.  Not all, but most.  Again, maybe it's just me.

The man of the night.

I learned so much from Nick and I am so appreciative.  I really had the perfect experience.  His attitude towards his career, and just towards people in general, gives me hope for myself within this industry.  I don't know if that makes any sense, but he just proves all of the negative stereotypes of the snobby high maintenance fashion big-wig so wrong.  You can actually be nice (and be a Cancer by the way... even with our "fear and doubt" in our peripherals) and still make it in this field. So Nick, if you're reading this... thanks.  I hope that wasn't the last time our paths cross.

I am such a lame sauce.. I totally slipped him one of my cards tonight... with the blog written in sharpie on the back of it.  Whatever.  You only live once.... and I clearly have no shame.

Best Day Ever.

I am completely wiped out... even though it was a pretty easy day.  Today I met my menswear style icon, Nick Wooster, and he was everything I hoped he would be.  He is respectful, super chill, funny as all hell and a real human being?  Unlike a lot of people in the fashion industry.  Today went great.. I think we all felt a little burnt out by the end of the day, but other than that it was a really great experience.  It's really comforting to know that I am not that different from the person that I respect so much.  I learned a lot from him... a lot... but as far as thought processes and taste goes.. I felt pretty confident that my head is where it should be.  It was great.  I can't wait to do it all over again tomorrow!  I have noooo idea what to wear.  Life is so hard.  Sigh.

Jewelmint

Lucky you!! You guys get two posts today!!

Kate Bosworth and Cher Coulter of Jewelmint

Ok I needed to share this with everyone!  I just tooootally got sucked into Kate Bosworth and Cher Coulter's Jewelry line Jewelmint.  This site is out of control.  They give you a full style assessment that pin points your style and then they recommend specific pieces that correspond with your personal style.  If I had a jewelry line.. that is exactly how I would run my site.  Today they are running an amazing discount!! I got two amazingly awesome pieces (shown below) for a total price of $45!  With FREE shipping!  Both pieces are usually $100 each and because I am a subscriber to the Zoe Report I received 50% off one of the items (that was already discounted)! How cool! .... Ok ya I get it... This is why I am poor, but you've got to admit.  That is a pretty sick deal. $200 value for $45. Check it out!
(Can you tell how excited I am through the number of exclamation points I used?)

The Life.

So today... was amazing.  I felt like I was dreaming this morning.   I think it was one of those moments of excitement that I'll remember forever.  I get to shadow my male equivalent to Mary-Kate Olsen.  My male fashion icon.  That's all I'm going to say. Sigh.  I'm so excited... and overwhelmed by the outfit decisions I will have to make.  Life is so hard.

As you probably noticed I added a few more sections to The Life of a Paperdoll.  Full Length With Shoes is obviously the style section.  If you ever need a style muse.. hopefully you can find something within the gallery that speaks to you.  The Doll House is my "home decor" section.. it includes images that inspire my personal spaces.  As many of you know I studied Interior Design in school, so creating the perfect environment was and is a huge part of my life.  If I get to design my own personal house or space it would include bits and pieces of all the images seen in The Doll House gallery.  It's still a work in progress, so if you have any suggestions please feel free to share!  There is more to come, including a section for my artwork.. so get excited!

A Bridesmaid Brunch!

Today my dear friend and bride-to-be, Stephanie Foley, hosted a brunch for her bridesmaids!  The spread was fantastic.. muffins, croissants and scones.. quiches, pasta salad, summer salad and mimosas!  They always put together such a fantastic presentation, whimsical and girly.  Setups that scream "NO BOYS ALLOWED".  We put on a little fashion show with our beautiful bridesmaid dresses.  It was a lot of fun.  They are such a great group of girls.  The whole day was the cherry on top of a great weekend.

Wind and cute hats... are not close friends.

A windy day in Salem.

For lunch we split a salad and had the most amazing berry, lemon, mint sangria!  For dinner we went to Scollay Square on Beacon Hill and for dessert we went to Tresca in the Northend.  We had Pizzette con Nutella and Espresso Martinis!  I am not a sweets girl, by any means!!! But that dessert was... amaaaazing!!!  Perfect day.

Welcome to my closet Elizabeth & James Honey Ruched Leather Wedges!

Elizabeth & James Honey Ruched Leather Wedges
I am going to wear the shit out of these bad boys.. they give an edge to any outfit and they're seasonless, and super comfortable.  They will live in harmony with my Elizabeth & James long silk skirt with leather detailing.  Sigh.. I'm excited for summer.  My wardrobe is almost complete.  I say almost because I know it's not done expanding just yet! If you thought it was then you're just a silly rabbit!

Work outfit.

Playing dress up before dinn dinn.

The MD took me out of the apartment tonight! Wooo!  Crazy I know! We went to Charlie's on Newbury... I had to take my new shoesies out on the town!  We couldn't just keep them locked up in their box their first night in my possession.  Jeez.

We did things a little backwards tonight.  I housed a full rack of ribs while the tradesman ate a dainty salad.  I love living ironically.  I paced myself and only had one pink sangria.. instead of my normal three.. which allowed me to save room for cheesecake! So exciting.

Finally... I own it.

I think my colleagues had a reverse intervention with me today.  Instead of sitting me down and telling me that I have a shopping problem, they dragged my broke behind into Nordstrom to buy the Eric Javits wide brimmed fedora that I've been trying on and obsessing over for months.  Yes.. it is true.. there was something that I was obsessing over that I let sit on a shelf, open to the world to purchase, for months... MONTHS.. before I actually saved the money to buy it... responsibly.  Usually I see something.. and even if I don't have the funding, I manage to finesse my finances so I can experience the feeling of instant gratification.  And this is why I'm broke.. and moving home looks better everyday for my bank account.

Anyways.. enough with the depressing stuff and back to the fedora!  It's so beautiful.  It's black with olivey/brown and cream detailing and looks perfect with my dirty hippie hair!  It's going to look perfect with my long skirts and maxi dresses this summer!  It kind of embodies a drifter hat too and I love it!  So Coleen and Lesa.. Thank you. Thank you for enabling my habit.

An Evening of Spring Style

Tonight a friend and I attended An Evening of Spring Style hosted by Elie Tahari.  We showed up a little early and the shop was already packed.  The guests were decked out in their most fashionable pieces.. everyone, including myself, was throwing back drinks and having a grand old time.  The wine and hors d'oeuvres were excellent!  Bren and I had the server bee-lining it to us by the end of the night.

Christopher Muther from the Boston Globe gave a short but very sweet fashion presentation on Elie's take on Spring Trend 2011.  The models looked great in their boho/ 70's inspired looks.  He also showcased  some key colors and silhouettes of this rejuvenating season we refer to as Spring (will it please stop snowing so I can actually wear a dress with out opaque tights??? Thanks).  The audience really enjoyed Chirstopher and the whole experience!

For those of you are not familiar with Elie Tahari.. first and foremost... he is a man.  I think that is my biggest pet peeve, when someone talks about the line and refers to Elie as a she.  It forces me to have to awkwardly and ever so politely correct them.  Then I feel bad, but I can't let it sliiide.. it's a whole "situation".  Now that that is taken care of, onto the good stuff!  Elie is known for his outstanding cuts and silhouettes!  His designs always embody a sophisticated, woman-who-knows-how-to-put-an-outfit-together, tasteful, couture inspired look, with an insane attention to detail.  If you don't own a piece.... you should.

Tonight I decided to wear my Elizabeth & James silk skirt with leather weave detailing, along with my Helmut Lang denim button down and YSL snake skin stilettos.  My trade mark piece of red was my vintage turn of the century necklace!  I looked pretty bitchen if you ask me. Enjoy the pics!

How cute is this guy?? I love a man who can fully pull off a bow tie with flying colors!  But my favorite part about him is the space between his teeth... sigh.. gets me every time!

Not a good day.

I need a stiff drink.
The moon needs to calm down and leave me and everyone else alone!

Time to relax

So I'm all nice and warm, wrapped up in my mom's fuzzy pink bathrobe drinking my airborne and sleepy time tea.  Too much partying this weekend!  I feel like I'm coming down with something... AGAIN. But mom makes everything better... especially when she has presents from Disney to give you!!!

Color Me Green Part IV

Today was the parade and it was so perfect!  I got to see my family and old friends I haven't seen in years and the day was so fun!  But on a creepier note.. I managed to take the most amazing pictures of every child under the age of 5.  They were all so cute!!  I couldn't help it!

This one is my favorite.
